This course helps students become confident in their singing by learning vocal technique and choral singing skills. Students will gain experience in choral singing by participating in required concerts. Students will develop in their ability to sing confidently, 听, communicate and collaborate with one another. This course can be taken for one or two semesters. Prerequisites: None. Eligible Grade Level(s): 9.

This honors course continues to develop students’ vocal technique, music reading and choral singing skills. This course requires previous choral experience and instructor approval. Students will improve in their confidence while singing a designated part. Students will also learn 听ing skills for blend, balance and intonation, while they also sing a more challenging choral repertoire. Prerequisites: Director Approval. Eligible Grade Level(s): 10-12.

This course is an audition-based course intended for vocalists who demonstrate exceptional musical ability and desire advanced instruction and performance opportunities in choral singing. Students will study four-part and multipart literature for many genres in this select singing group. Advanced music theory, sight-singing and ear-training instruction will also be provided. Students will be required to participate in the audition process for the TMEA Small School All State Choir. Additional public performances outside of class are also a requirement for this co-curricular course. Auditions for Honors Advanced Select Choir will take place in the spring semester prior to the following school year. Prerequisites: Director Approval. Grade level(s): 10-12.

Students in choir aim to enhance vocal performance. Students learn vocal techniques and styles while gaining experience through numerous performance opportunities. Students perform a varied repertoire as individuals and as a group. This is a repeatable course.
